On the 24th of April 2016 in the Department of History and Philology of the Far East (Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies, Russian State University for the Humanities) was held an international Workshop for the 1-year Russian students who learn Korean, and the 1-year Korean students who learn Russian. The event was prepared by the teaching members of the Department of History and Philology of the Far East and the International Scientific Centre for Russian Studies at RSUH.

The Workshop started with the greetings from Prof. Margarita M. Odesskaya (International Scientific Centre for Russian Studies at RSUH) and senior lecturer Nataliya A. Chesnokova (Department of History and Philology of the Far East).

13 students took part in the event, and 6 students presented their researches in Russian and Korean languages. The themes were as follows:

1. Kim Boeun (Hanshin Univ., Republic of Korea): The “Nose” by Nikolai V. Gogol [presented in Russian language].
2. Andreicheva Anna (RSUH): Kim Sowol and his poetry [presented in Korean language].
3. Yi Jejung (Hanshin Univ., Republic of Korea): Korean view on “Spat khochetsy” (I want to sleep) by Antov P. Chekhov [presented in Russian].
4. Trofimova Elena (RSUH): The development of pop-music in South Korea [presented in Korean].
5. Choe Seoyeon (Yonsei Univ., Republic of Korea): Antov P. Chekhov in Korean modern theatres [presented in Russian].
6. Ponkratova Evgeniya (RSUH): International stereotypes about Russia and the Russian people [presented in Korean].

After each of the presentations there has been a discussion that allowed the students to share their views on many social and cultural topics. The event was bilingual, and it was a good practice for Korean and Russian students. It is most likely the Workshop becomes a regular event in the Department of History and Philology of the Far East.
