International Center for Korean Studies of Moscow State University invites
you to attend its 5th Conference of Young Scholars on Korean Studies,
dedicated to 100th anniversary of Professor Mikhail N. Pak in Moscow, Russia,
on April 19–20, 2018. The Conference will be hosted by
Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University,
with the financial support of the Korea Foundation.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics on Korean Studies
in the following subject areas: Political Studies, Economy, History,
Philology, and Culture. The conference aims to give graduate students in
all Korea-related fields an opportunity to present their research,
share academic interests, and strengthen ties with other junior scholars.

Eligible Applicants: MA students, PhD students, and post-docs who
have received their PhD in late 2016–2018, from Russia, CIS countries,
Europe, and Republic of Korea. The conference is open not only
to representatives of universities, but also to the young scholars,
working in public and private sector, and other specialists involved in
the Korean studies.

Age – under 35.

Languages: Russian, English, Korean.

Those who wish to present a paper at the conference may submit proposals as an e-mail attachment in MS Word or RTF format (for example: SmithJohn.docx) to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , the letter should be marked “Conference”.

Proposals should contain the following information:

full name,

academic degree (if any),

institution,

country and city,

name of the supervisor,

telephone number (preferably mobile),

e-mail,

subject area,

paper title,

summary of approximately 500–700 words (in Russian, English or Korean),

bibliography/references.

Deadline for proposals is March 4, 2018. Materials for the conference will be selected by a special committee, notification of acceptance will be sent by March 20, 2018.

Full papers must be submitted by April 8, 2018.

The most interesting presentations may be published in the “Russian Korean Studies Herald” as separate articles.

The hosts will provide accommodation and meals during the conference for non-resident participants whose papers will be included in the conference program, as well as a partial reimbursement of transportation costs (depending on the number of participants, and the cost of travel, provided that transportation costs are not covered by the sending side).
